Early decision cal poly slo

my daughter applied for ED, CU gpa 4.32/ Act 28, recreation major, what do you think her chances are? this is her number 1 school.

It’s hard to assess CP chances without more information. Go to the top of the ED thread and look at the format for information. Report back and we can give you a better idea.

Assuming you are talking about Recreation Administration in the college of Ag/Env she has a good chance. You should figure out her MCA (you can get this info off other posts or on cpslo), she will be maxed out at 4.2 GPA. This will give you a better idea of her stats for this school. It really depends on the degree you are going for–some are very difficult, some are not.

At Cal Poly, the Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration is in the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. The Preliminary New Freshman Profile for Fall 2015 for the College of Ag includes this information: 4,583 applicants and 1,955 selected (43% acceptance rate), with an average GPA of 3.87, an average SAT I (Math & Reading) of 1253 and an average ACT of 28. In addition to intended major, grades and standardized test scores, they also look at course rigor, extra curriculars and work experience.

getting nervous for my daughter! ED SLO, I just now understood the MCA/ so her reports are:
4.32 CU GPA( i know they take 4.2)
ACT 28
Rigor:
4 yrs math( AP stats now, which I don’t think they take)
4 english
4 language
1.5 art
4 science
8 points for honors/ap

work 6-10
leadership yes
work related no
that is all.
Recreation major ED

what do you think? And Out of state.

@cam1998: Expected acceptance rate is around 70% for Recreation Admin major, so I would say she has an excellent chance ED.

Following the instructions (in a different thread) on calculating the PROJECTED Admit Rate for specific majors, the projected admit rate for Recreation Administration in Fall 2015 was actually closer to 50% - so maybe in prior years it was higher? Selectivity of various majors does change year-to-year based on how many applications are received for any given major. Regardless, it looks like @cam1998 's daughter will be a competitive applicant for Recreation Administration. Good luck!

anyone hear from Cal Poly for ED fall 2016? I know we are supposed to hear by Dec. 15th

I might have misunderstood ACT scores on cal poly. When I say that my daughter scored a 28 on ACT, she only had a 25/25 eng/math. my questions Is: when you see the average on cal poly website for colleges is that the composite or the combined equivalent to the SAT CR/math?
