Essays: I'm pouring my heart into these essays so they will be the best I've ever written

Early Decision because NU is where I want to be. Give me your feedback and just respond based on these facts as no test scores (other than SAT IIs) will be changed. Thanks.

Your GPA, class rank, academic curriculum and ECs all look pretty good. Don't know about the ACT score, which is shaky.

bump please

um, NU's ACT average is a 31. And it is somewhere, that 71 percent of NU students have at least a 30 on their ACT (Enrolled students). I think the range for admitted students is between 31-34. I'd try to get your ACT to a 31 if you can if not higher?

Columbiahopeful, problem is that I can't take anymore standardized tests this month and the deadline for ED is Nov 1 so my 29 is what is going to have to go. Is there still a chance even with a score that low?

Sure. 31-34 is the mid-50%; that means 25% of the admits had <31.

I just sent in my application and will send my Supplement essay later this week. Now I'm wondering what is next on the timeline of things: when do they send me confirmation of my materials, do I get any ID number from them , etc.

Will a 780 Math II and 690 US History be looked down upon at all by NU?

Oh come on. Why would a 780 Math II be "looked down on"? Get real.

780 sounds good ; 80 something percentile isnt exactly dominating though

Do you guys know when you receive your Application ID code? Thanks

i was going to ask the same thing...i sent in my supplement last sunday, but i had sent in my common application two weeks before that...i figured they wouldn't have sent me anything until they got the supplement, but now they have it. i'm guessing it'll come in the mail? i'll post when it comes in case others are still wondering...

I'm wondering about the app code, too. I still can't access my app status online... although I submitted both the common app and supplement only last week, so I guess they're still working on it.

I think you either get an e-mail or letter with this information.

I figured out how to get my Application ID code. Go to the Applicant Services page and on the bottom there should be a link "Did you forget your Application ID code?". Click on that and type in your email and they will send you the ID number within a couple minutes. All of my things are in, now I'm banking on faith and luck to give me a chance :)

did that actually work? i did it and it told me my code was unavailable or unknown. i submitted it a while ago, at least a week, im hoping they just haven't created my application in their database and are waiting until after the official deadline?? my theory would be a bust if you say that you got your code this way. regardless, none of us have received the "application acknowledgement letter" they mentioned, right? oh god, i hope i'm not completely screwed...

Yeah, mine says unavailable right now. They just haven't gotten to our application yet.

I haven't gotten any acknowledgment letter either but when I type in email and code, they say thank you for applying to so and so college (Weinberg for me) and give a chart like this:

Name, we have received and processed the items marked with a "Y". It is possible that your items have been received but not yet entered into our database. We update this information every two days. DO NOT BOOKMARK THIS PAGE; (because of frequent updates you will not be able to access the latest information from a bookmarked site.)
