early decision - grades

Does hopkins look at first quarter grades for ED? I know that we're supposed to send in the mid-year report at the end of two quarters, but what about first quarter becuase i'm totally screwed in one class.

If the admissions counselor feels that first quarter grades could help before making the ED decision, we will call your school to get them. I will often contact counselors to get a student's most recent senior grades before making a decision on an ED file.

wait...so if we have to send our quarter grades will we, the students, be notified?...because personally two of my teachers gave me b+ while i deserved a-s and they said it was their mistake but i didn;t bother to ask them to change it because i didn't know quarter grades were evaluated. I mean if we get notified i will first go talk w/ those teachers =(

or probably i should just go talk w/ my counselors and ask them to notify me if jhu requests a quarter grade report?

The problem with sending in first term grades is that we don't receive our report card by mid december. The teachers won't submit the marks to the school administration/counsellor until that time.

And yes, what if one did poorly in one or two courses (meaning not consistent with the overall four-year performance) in the first term?

If we want first quarter grades we do not contact the student but go directly to the guidance counselor. The student is only required to have the mid-year transcript submitted. You do not need to submit 1st quarter grades officially -- if we want them we will call for them.
