EARLY DECISION I- Chances of getting accepted

Hi. I’m applying to Mount holyoke as an early decision candidate. I would like a realistic estimation as to my chances of acceptance.

I have a weighted GPA of 3.88 and an unweighted GPA of 3.7. I take 2-3 APs each year as well as honors classes which is about the maximum. I am in the top 25%. My SAT score is 1520 NO essay.
Im pretty sure my recommendation will be up to standards.
But i know my essay is really unique and well written. (I hope to be an author one day so I worked my butt off on this.)

I have a collegr overnight visit and interview scheduled before i send in my application too. So if anyone has tips for the interview.

I have some As and Bs in my AP classes (all 89s.) Honors classes I’ve gotten As. But in Honors Algebra 2 in sophomore year as well as Spanish 3 (summer course sophomore year) I’ve received a C. To be fair, I was diagnosed with ADHD junior year, (which my guidance counselor will mention.)

My junior year had scheduling conflicts with AP chemistry and because its a 2 period class, I ended up with 2 study hall. I used that time study for my Emergency Medical technician certification (190+ hours of classroom/hospital time and a state exam.) BUT this schedule conflict left me with only 3 years of science.

Im really musically involved- i play the flute. I’m in tri-m music society, started the school flute choir, played in the pit for musical 4 years, did marching band 4 years (and winter guard for 4 years) and have played solos since freshmen year (both with the band ans at student showcases.)

I was in student council (class officer for 2 years), art honors society, and I’m also volunteering at the local ambulance corp with my EMT license. Im also in our school’s Peer Outreach service team, where I lead workshops at elementary schools and middle schools about tolerance, student safety, and bullying.

I dont know if these extracurriculars will help though because my school is really competitive. A lot of kids go to top 25 schools and some GPAs are like 4.7 here. And we have like 3 kids in our grade with perfect SAT english, math, and essay scores
We actually have an Asian majority in my school too so i dont feel as a competitive applicant from my school. I do know that nobody else from my school will.be applying to mount holyoke tho.

Are you in the US? Do you have Naviance? That’s the first thing I’d look at – it’s really good at predicting outcomes. Your grades & scores seem fine.

I had a similar situation to you. My GPA was 3.87 and I got in ED. I had one other person applying with me ED and I got in. You should be okay

It appears to me that you have an excellent chance of being accepted early decision on your merits. I would concentrate on letting the College know that you really want to attend. Trust me, you will love it. I entered as an early decision applicant in 1966 and I have never looked back. It was a wonderful four years and made a huge difference in my life and my career. Good luck. And one more thing – know that this is a lifetime commitment, not just a four year gig. This College is so special; it is a national treasure.
