Early decision Notification

yea it is wicked strange, especially since my school sends so many kids to top schools and stuff. We are the number 2 school in the state after Boston Latin (which is only selectively public), slash one of the most academically rigorous... But yea as you can tell i've checked this site like 50 times today for no good reason :)

haha i'm sick too...
have to go to school though because it's midterms week!
had english and history today- total 4.5 hours of straight writing...
my hand huuuurts
haha

I wish S2 had not applied ED.

He does not have plan B.

At this point I regret the little consideration I put into my comment at the top of this page regarding how much I want to be accepted to Williams. It appeared in EphBlog: In The Mail, and from the responses that it has received, it would appear that people took it a bit too seriously.

It's not that I don't have perspective on life, or that I base my entire self-image on getting into a "top name" school. I could be happy at any number of places, but I hope fervently that Williams is the place that I end up. My comment was not intended to demonstrate an "unhealthy" degree of importance placed on acceptance at Williams, nor was it intended to reflect on my parents' guidance (or lack thereof, according to the blog). I was in no way suggesting a lack of respect for those fighting in Iraq, and I did not mean to insinuate that my application to college is in any way significant in comparison to the war...

I apologize for creating a huge discussion on the overdramatization of the college experience, and I'm sorry if the fact that I really did write the comment in haste negates the many hypotheses presented in the blog. It's too late to change my initial comment, but I just hope that everyone reading Ephblog and College Confidential realizes that most of us write on here to interact with peers going through the same process as us; we're not trying to say that college is infinitely more important than anything else in the world around us.

Thanks for reading!

Well put, wildchild, and I wouldn't sweat it ... while Ephblog has lots of great posters (including some who came to your defense), it also features some whose maturity level is far below that of the average high schooler ... that is the nature of any blog that allows for anonymous commentary. The lead author of the blog has repeatedly been admonished about taking quotes from high schoolers out of context (often criticizing them in the process, although in your case, the original post was not meant to be in any way critical and I believe was actually intended to empathize), to no avail. In short, your anxiety is perfectly normal and in no way signals a lack of interest in more "important" topics. Hell, if that were the standard, the millions of Americans who are equally stressed out by far more trivial enterprises -- Oscar pools, fantasy sports, "24," etc. -- would be guilty as well. I hope you make it into Williams, if you do, celebrate, if not, mourn quickly and focus on the many other wonderful schools that will provide a very similar atmosphere but are a smidgen easier to gain admission to (Bowdoin, Midd, Carleton, Haverford, etc. etc.). Good luck to all the Williams applicants, and remember that over 50 percent of the alums posting on Ephblog would have themselves been rejected in the current admissions climate.

Thank You Ephman :)

Playin lacrosse for the Eph's next year..I'm a Goalie from Syosset..anyone here playing sports(lacrosse)?

wildchild

Do not be concerned, at all, about comments on ephblog. It is the fabulous school you think it is, at least according to my eph, and if the stars line up, you will thrive there. If not, there are other excellent schools where you will do great. Somehow that blog gets away with using the school colors, the W, and other items that must not be copyrighted, that make it look like it is the official school blog. It is not. Best of luck, and I hope you get that big purple package.

It's tomorrow!
Do they send emails?

i got my email not too long ago.

Really??? Dang, I have to check that spam folder now.... 1400 messages. BOO.
