ed and low gpa vs rd and higher gpa

sooo i was wondering..
i know the school that i want to go to has a higher percentage of acceptance at early decision.. but my gpa is not high enough to get into that school fully. if i have enough confidence that i can raise my gpa up during the first semester senior year, would i have a better chance at applying regular decision with higher gpa or early decision with lower gpa?

which one would u prefer?

thank you!

Well first you have to consider if you actually will do well enough first semester senior year to raise the GPA.

What’s your GPA out of 4.

well if i assume that i do well in first semester senior year, which would way would it be better?
b/c my gpa is in an upward curve right now and right now its 3.54

Couldn’t you just do ED and in the event that you are deferred, update your app with the higher gpa?

I think it’s illogical to apply twice. Either way, I think applying ED is better. That way, if you have good test scores and ECs, you have a good chance at acceptance, and if you are not accepted, you still have time to apply to other schools, or, if possible, and if you really want to go to that school, you can then apply for RD. But I’m not sure that can be done.
Good Luck!!!

ahh ok
so itd be better to apply as ed despite the lower gpa
thank you!

If you apply ED you don’t have to apply twice. You would most likely be deferred and then considered again in RD.
