Early Decision: Policy at Vassar

ED Stats at Vassar

Has anyone heard any policy statement from the adcoms at Vassar regarding ED for this year or perhaps in coming years? The incoming class of 2003 shows a 44% ED acceptance rate and 28% for RD, or a 16% differential, which suggests that ED represents a meaningful advantage. The ED acceptance rate, I believe, for 2004 was 53%, but don't quote me on these numbers. I took the 2003 numbers from the USNWR 2005 guide. Given the apparent 9% increase in the rate this year, perhaps someone on the board has heard some policy statement that you could share. Thanks for any information.

What do you mean by policy statements? What kind of information are you looking for?

any idea how many applicants apply ED?

I, for one, did.

600 or so.

There was an interesting post in the Williams thread about an article posted in the school's newspaper in which they discuess how ED applications had gone down by about 100 or so applicants from last year. They said this seemed to be a pattern at other top LAC colleges, perhaps this applies for Vassar. They also said because of this, they were going to be able to send out the acceptance letters a week before the 15th. How sweet would that be? I suggest you guys check it out.

Yea- but i read the article and it doesnt seem as though it would apply to vassar. They have construction on campus, and they also changed their application format to use only the Common App. so- it would be awesome to get our acceptances/rejections sooner- but i doubt we will :-

The trend Williams might be noticing could apply to Vassar, but generally more apply every year so I don't see it happening.

At Wesleyan, when they review early decision applicants, they do it over the course of 2 days so if its around the same at Vassar, the letters are likely done a long time before the 15th, they just get them ready and store them until the time to send them out.

The farther away you live, the longer the wait.

THis wait is killing me....

"The farther away you live, the longer the wait."

Any idea what this means for California? Is it possible I will receive mine after the 15th??

I can't wait until you all find out. I"m applying ED II, and I would consider myself a borderline applicant, so i'm dying to know how the process truly pans out.

Hey! i live in NJ!!! better for me i guess.. or .. erm.. worse, depending on what the letter says

I don't know how long it would take to get to califonia...it takes me 1-2 days to get things from the school. I suppose they send the letters out say, the 10th, so that it gets to Cali by the 15th or soemthing like that....?!?

Im not sure.

you live in california and ur worried? i live in india!!! if it doesent get here by the 16th im calling them and asking them to tell me coz im going out of town after that!

They couldn't send it out on the 10th because then you would get it in on the 12th. That's confusing since I thought everyone found out the same day, the 15th. Tricky Tricky Vassar. I wish there was a more defined way to know when we could expect it, or atleast what day they send them out.

No one will be getting anything on the 12th because that's Sunday, lol.

damnit, hes right.......the 13th!

Theres no way of knowing when they send it out, someone should call and ask or get their friend whos not applying to call and ask.

This wait is terrible.....is it just me or is everyone else going through the feelings where one minute you feel like your chances are good and you'll get in and then like get down when you think that you might not make it?

Ahhhhhh terrible....2 more weeks....

that is EXACTLY how i feel silverstonett!! I'ts crazy!
I can't take it!
13 more days... :-

Hey, does anyone by any chance know what the acceptance letter for ED I is for Vassar? Is it a small envelope, or a big thick one?
