I was wondering if you could apply to one school before the ED 1 deadline, then if you were rejected, send out another application during the same ED 1 period. If you go ED and get wait listed are still obliged to go to that school if they eventually offer you admission? Thanks in advance

If the timing works out I don’t see why not. If you don’t get accepted ED, you are not bound to attend there. If they defer you to regular decision then you can apply whereever you want.

I’ve never heard of an ED school replying in time to apply to another school ED1. Usually people apply ED2 to another school. If you are deferred to the RD pool you are under no obligation to attend if accepted.

you can’t do two ED 1s because the first one won’t come back in time. ED is typically not evaluated like rolling admission. You can however do an ED 1 and an ED 2, granted you are rejected or deferred from the first school.
