Early Decision & Senior year grades/attendance

I heard that when you apply early decision, they call in to check your

 1. current grades and 2) attendance.

My grades are great, but I actually got sick recently and missed 4 days of school. This is probably all I’ll miss until I apply (which will be around late August- Nov. 15). Is that considered ok? They are all excused absences. I have 0 tardies. I’m just getting really paranoid. Haha, thanks everyone. :)

I do not think that those excused absences for illness will be an issue. Hang in there!

i got in ED and i definitely had more than 4 excused and unexcused absences, so you should be totally fine in that aspect.

don't worry about it!

Yeah, honestly they don't really care about how many absences you have as long as you are still doing moderately well in your classes. Actually, I don't even think they care if your grades go down..

If your high School grades are adequate but not necessarily SUPER competitive (Straight A's in all hard classes) is applying ED a plausible choice?

Applying ED is ONLY plausible if you know that finances will not be a consideration for you if you do go to Barnard, regardless of your grades. That should be your first consideration since early decision acceptance is binding. To answer your question, though, of course you should apply early if Barnard is definitely your first choice and if you know that you can go regardless of your financial package. ED application gives you a bit of an "edge" since the application pool is much smaller than RD.
