Is it better to do early decision/action than apply regularly?
My GPA is 3.8 and my SAT is 1800. Would I have a greater chance of being accepted if I do early action/decision? Or would the "smart people" out smart me in the application process?

You can only apply “early decision” at one school, as it is binding, meaning that if you are accepted, you must go to that college, and must withdraw your applications from other colleges.

Early action is non-binding. It is really just applying early to get an admission decision early, especially from a school that you are interested in.

DON’T apply early decision if there is any chance that you may want to go to another school, as you can only withdraw if the financial aid package offered, if any, is insufficient. If it is your absolute first choice, go for it.

As for the competitiveness, I think that the earlier you apply, the better off you are, especially if they do rolling admissions.

1.Some schools provide binding EA, i.e…Yale & Stanford
2.If you were accepted by your ED choice, you may only withdraw when it fails to grant you your demanded amount of FA

EA for northeastern helps a lot i hear. ED is usually for recruited athletes/legacies and sometimes the top students with an high interest in the school/slight interest for EA
