early decision?

I visited Fordham earlier today and loved it, but my dad said he didnt see an option to apply early decision, only early option. I was kinda bummed when the secretary at the admissions office said they don't offer interviews anymore. Does Fordham not offer early decision?

Fordham has early action which is non-binding on your part. In my opinion, there is no downside to early action as compared to early decision. If you apply to Fordham by Nov. 1, you should get a decision before Christmas.

What. If i applied early decision to (for arguments sake) muhlenberg, and was accepted, but i was also accepted early action at fordham, could i still choose fordham?

No. You would have to go to the school that accepts you early decision since that is binding on the student’s part (in your situation Muhlenberg). You can apply to multiple schools that are early action.

But I believe in the case of Muhlenberg (I was there with my D over April break) that you have until sometime in February to apply early decision. If that is the case (and you should check) then you can wait until you hear back from Fordham EA in December (if Fordham is your first choice) before deciding how you want to proceed with Muhlenberg.

It shouldn’t be this complicated…

Another thought - many schools have ED2 which happens later in the process so you can always apply to Fordham EA and if that doesn’t work, you can still apply ED2 at another school. If you have a school you love (be it Fordham or anywhere else) I would encourage you to apply there early and see what happens before you commit to different school. Good luck.
