Is it possible to break early decision if one is to go to a foreign university?

Here’s a thread on the same topic. Some people say it may hurt you if the school you choose to go to in place of your ED school chooses to uphold the ED and rejects you, or it may reflect poorly on you if you later attempt to attend your ED school (as a transfer, grad student, etc.). Others say there will be no repercussions. I hope this thread will produce a more conclusive consensus. :)

If you break ED, the college may black list your HS and there may be a drought of acceptances for several years.

Don’t exercise ED if there is any doubt-- good rule of thumb
