Early Decision.

If I apply to say NYU early decision and get a rejection by December 15th, can I apply to another college early decision again after I got my rejection from the first one? Please help!

You could apply Early Decision II, which shares the deadline with Regular Decision (almost always January 1st) and you’ll usually find out by mid-February.

@friendlynerd888 so it’s not a problem to apply early decision to another school after the first one rejects? And thank you for your reply

Not a problem, as long as you are not accepted ED1 and the other school offers ED2. Although you can submit the ED2 app before you hear back from the ED1 school, most students don’t do that - they wait for the result before submitting. (Saves money.) But having that ED2 app ready to go before you hear is a good idea, as often you’ll be in no mood to write an ED2 app after getting rejected or deferred ED1 and there is little time to waste.

@MrMom62 , thank you! That helped a lot! I wasn’t sure what to do. One more question though, can I apply Early Decision to one school and Early Action to another at the same time?

Straight EA, yes. REA or SCEA, no. I actually advise that people do that, especially if the ED school is a reach, as getting an EA admit helps lessen the blow in the event of bad or indecisive news and gives you a base to work from when deciding where to apply RD. (Essentially, you get a safety.) Just know that in the event you get the EA first and say it contains a great FA offer that you want to take, you may not have time to shift the ED to RD. Other than that, there’s no downside.
