Early decision?

I've heard of EDI and EDII. I thought you were only able to apply to one college as an early decision? I'd like to apply to Syracuse as early decision, I think, but if I have another ED option that would be great too.
Anybody care to fill me in?

ED I is the first deadline, generally around Nov. 1/15, reply mid-December. ED II is generally Jan. 1/15. If you get into your ED I school, you're done. ED II gives you a second chance. If you're deferred or rejected by your ED I school, you are released from your pledge to go there, so you are free to apply to a different school ED II. Then if you get into your ED II school, you're bound to go there.

These must be done serially. You can't have two open ED applications at once.

Does this help?

I decided a little late that Colby was my first choice, and took more time to make visits, before deciding do apply EDII. Its not just if youre rejected EDI from a school.

Good point! I'm sorry; I'm so used to kids applying both ED I and then II. Didn't mean to forget you!
