How much greater are your chances of being accepted into CIT-ECE with early decision?

They’re a little higher than they would be RD-- general consensus is about 10-15%. Make sure you are aware of ED policy first - if accepted, you must attend, and your financial aid will be significantly reduced, leaving you with no opportunity to compare/match the offer to other universities. If CIT is your first choice, and you understand all the intricacies of ED, then go for it. :D

If you are accepted ED Carnegie Mellon will meet your full need. I didn’t receive my FA package yet so I can’t tell you if they live up to their commitment.

“Carnegie Mellon will meet the full demonstrated financial need with a combination of grants,
federal and alternative loans and work-study as calculated by the university for all students
admitted under Early Decision. However, we do not guarantee to meet full need for students who are deferred or denied admission under Early Decision and later admitted under Regular Decision.”

^^ So I believe that they meet the full need for ED students but not RD students… But again I have no facts to verify this

They definitely didn’t meet my full need, and I was accepted ED. Well-- they did, but in huge loans with crappy interest rates and more work-study money.
