I have seen various questions about Early decision Penn scattered around in various posts and makes it very difficult to get a clear picture when trying to find information. So feel free to post anything about ED here and questions about Penn should be fine too.

So i'll start off,
In early decision, does it matter if you are the first one to submit your ED to Penn? I know they say on their sites that it doesn't matter, but if your folder is on the top of the pile wouldn't they be more lenient towards it? I guess what I'm asking is how they give apps to the adcoms. Do they give it to the adcoms as you submit it? or do they wait until the deadline and look at everyone's?

I know if you apply ED to Penn and get accepted, you have to withdraw all other applications. But does Penn have a restriction stating you can't apply anywhere else while you're applying there ED?
In other words, am I allowed to apply ED to penn and also do EA to MIT, and if i get accepted to Penn ED, withdraw my MIT application or deny acceptance?

No, they don't start considering apps until after the deadline has passed. In rolling admissions, getting it in early helps, not with ED.

ivy24...to my knowledge, youre allowed to apply ED to 1 school and can simultanteously apply EA elsewhere. at least thats what im planning to do!

If I get deferred ED, and accepted during the RD cycle, that is no longer binding, correct?

Also, if I apply ED to Wharton, how easy is it to transfer into CAS?

Finally, any recommendations of things to do to increase ED chances :)? Just kidding. But not really. Any tips on something that would look better for an ED candidate than a RD candidate?

The UPenn Assistant Director of Transfer and International Admissions was at my school a week ago and she told me that transfering between schools is usually quite hard. She was referencing that for people that wanted to switch from CAS to Wharton the GPA cut-off was at 3.7. I don't know how that would work the other way around but she specifically told us to apply to the school we wanted to and not look for any loopholes because they aparently catch that while they are reviewing the appliations.

jptoor, change your ethnicity to an incredibly obscure one. =) jk idk, there's not much you can do now but to be honest and to show who you are. good luck!

I've always wanted to be an Eskimo.
Perhaps my hook can then be how I am a polar bear hunter.

Actually, I heard about a guy who marked his ethnicity as African-American (He was white) and then he just said it was an accident when he got there. I don't know if it was really an accident, but I know his stats were subpar for UCLA.

question, if i wanted to apply ED to huntsman, do they want to see a language SAT II when they review my application? I'm taking the language SAT in November, but I already have two SAT II's that I won't mind using. I don't want to rush the score report unless I have to... but since it's huntsman, do they want to see you are already proficient in a language when looking at your application? I'm sending it to Penn, but it probably won't get there until Dec, by the rate Collegeboard usually sends reports. Is it too late?

I'm applying to UPenn SEAS ED (with the intention of enrolling in the Liberal arts & Technology program if I get in). Does Penn want my counselor to include my 1st quarter grades with my transcript in my package? I believe the 1st marking period in my school system ends on Oct 31, the day before the application must be submitted for ED applicants.

When is the deadline to submit ED applications for an interview? Or are all ED applicants eligible for an interview as long as they apply before Nov 1st?

the professor short response...i went to the site under CAS (international relations) and found i think a list of faculty/staff...they didn't specify that they'r "professors" but rather "directors", "lecturers", etc. is that correct? or am i in the wrong place?

and also, should i choose a prof who teaches the major i'm interested in? if i want to be econ major, is it okay if i choose an int'l relations prof??

What are some ways you can actually get out of going to a school [sorry this isn't really towards UPenn in general] after you get accepted ED? Like for example, if someone got into Harvard ED but then decided they wanted to go to Berkeley instead.
