Right now I plan to apply early notification. However I would more then likely not do that depending on how they treat those who they do not accept. I know they only take a relatively small percentage of students. So what are the chances that one gets rejected during early notification? Do they only reject the students with under 3.0 GPA and 800/1600 SAT? Or is it a good amount of that just want to make sure before I t pool? Or maybe its none of that pool and everybody gets deferred to RD. I just wanted to see because I'm applying EN because I see no reason right now now to and I plan to have my chances improved for RD if I get deferred through first semester grades and higher SAT and ACT scores.

Here is from Ga Tech admission forum

"For both early notification and regular decision, we will be looking at the same four factors for admission: GPA/rigor of curriculum, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular involvement, and the personal essay. If you are deferred during the early notification round, you will be reviewed during our next round of admission decisions.

This is the first year that we are offering the October 1 Early Notification deadline.

Early notification is the best option for students who would like to hear back from Georgia Tech earlier in the admission process.

Early notification is a non-binding decision. Students who are admitted to Georgia Tech during the early notification process can submit their deposits anytime before May 1, which is the national deposit deadline. Students admitted during the regular decision process must also submit their deposits before May 1."

It sounds like Early action to me. More than likely if you got deferred if you don’t get accepted.

Good question but Jim’s cut and paste does not answer the question! Now are non accept EA’s all deferred or are some rejected?

And…Virginia fan, I have to ask…are you sure you are not here at GT’s threads trying to sabatoge the 2010 admission process at GT? Dude, lose the name!

"Right now I plan to apply early notification. However I would more then likely not do that depending on how they treat those who they do not accept. I know they only take a relatively small percentage of students. "

If you are rejected early, you would have been rejected under normal admissions. They only reject the students that are obviously unqualified for Tech. Similarly, they only accept the student that are obviously qualified for Tech. Everyone that is borderline is pushed to regular decision.

So there is no negative to applying early (unless it prevents you from applying elsewhere).

I just submitted my application for Early Notification! So, all I need to send is the application (obviously) and my standardized test scores right? GT doesn’t take teacher or counselor recommendations nor do they want your grades until they accept you.

I really hope I get in, November 20th seems so far away.

that’s correct. You’ve done all you can for the application. If you haven’t visited yet, fall is a good time.

Why so many GPBurdel type names on this forum? Confusing.

[George P. Burdell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](George P. Burdell - Wikipedia)

Oh my, I feel really dumb now!

It’s not something a non-GT person would know. But now when you’re in an airport and hear “George Burdell” paged, you’ll be in on the joke,

I have another question. On the GT website it says that EN applicants will receive a decision on November 20. However in a PSP view book it says that the notification will be November 1st. Which one is it?

From what I can tell from the website, you can either apply for PSP by the early notification date of October 1 or by the final PSP deadline of November 1. Either way, I think you find out in December and not by November 20 like other Early Notification applicants.

Thanks GP!

Do they ask for the Transcripts later then? How deep do the essays have to be?

From gt admission blog, there are close to 4000 applicants for early notification (October 1st deadline).

Last year, there are only 1500 applied before November 1st (PSP deadline).

It looks like that early notification is overwhelming success.

Oh, and how big is the incoming class? looks like the admit rate is going to be way lower this year!?

Wow that is a big increase. Was early notification added last year? If so then this kind of makes sense as more students would know about it now.

I think its new this year…

We will see. One number can’t tell the whole story. Still that is a lot of students applying.

This is first year for early notification for gt.

Last year there were roughly 11500 students applied.

It is possible that students all 4000 students would apply any way. Like previous poster said,
the number by itself does not mean a lot.
