early or regular decision

Ok, so my dream (and reach) school is UMich, and I’m in a bit of a dilemma.

Should I show my interest by applying early action, but with a 28 ACT score? This is currently my plan because I’ve read that applying ea gives you a better chance of admission (more spots=more generous).

My other option is taking the ACT for a third time later this fall, sending in my first semester senior year grades, applying rd like everybody else, and hoping for the best. My grades show a great upward trend in the past 3 years, but I don’t know if I could benefit from more excellent grades.

Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

and in the title I meant early action, not early decision

If you feel your application can be noticeably improved by waiting to RD then wait. Your call.

According to your UMich Chance Me post, your current stats give you a very slim chance. Retake the test – see where it gets you. If you’re in range, apply. Otherwise, make sure you have great back ups. Right now, UMich is an extreme reach for you. Applying early won’t help you. Especially OOS.

Thanks. I know how slim my chances are and I do have many other schools that I can get into.
