Concerning Stanford

From what I know, Stanford admission puts a red tag over all the homeschooler applicants and put them in a separate box. So I'm guessing there will be a small box for EA and larger (but still small) box for Regular. For a student who seriously cracked on the AP's and SAT's (tangible evidence) , which is the BETTER box? =P

Homeschoolers out there, would you do EA or Regular and why?

…

There is no “better” box, if you’re in love with Stanford and couldn’t see yourself anywhere else, apply early. If you’re not sure, apply regular.

“From what I know, Stanford admission puts a red tag over all the homeschooler applicants and put them in a separate box.”

I don’t believe this is true. Stanford compares all applicants to everyone else who is applying. There are no quotas or goals for home-schooled applicants.

“For a student who seriously cracked on the AP’s and SAT’s (tangible evidence)”

This is the real issue. If “cracked” means performed poorly (as I think it does), then RD might be a more attractive option because it enables you to take the SAT/ACT/Subject Tests and assess your scores again.

Having said these things, REA is great if 1) Stanford is your #1 choice 2) Grades and scores are competitive going into senior year and 3) You can compose a compelling application by the Nov. 1 deadline.
