So has anyone received word about financial aid for the early regular admits? I was under the impression that I would be hearing from them soon...but so far no word from that department.

Has anyone gotten a package yet? Or does anyone know when we can expect them?

I have not received one either; I believe I’m going to call the FAO within the next few days, because money is definitely a huge determinant in my admission into Mac.

Same for me!! However, a Mac student called my house after the acceptance to congratulate me, and I asked. She said on their little cheat sheet that you’re supposed to receive your offer about a week after your financial aid application is complete, but if you’ve been waiting for a while, it’s ok to call.

Well I was EXTREMELY intelligent and sent all of my forms to them on 2/28!

I called today and they proceeded to tell me that they literally received thousands of forms that weekend, so it’s taking double time to receive and process my forms.

I know that Mac will evaluate all the stuff and give me the same aid package I would receive regardless of when I sent it, but the wait is killer.

You were so right; this is WAY more anxiety ridden than the acceptance.

Haha, well I’m sure everything will work out for you. Columbia still hasn’t processed my forms that I sent in the middle of February and they don’t even use IDOC! Frustrating…

Well, i was projecting low on purpose because 1.) i always do that and 2.) i hate to be let down, but yeah, i was not at all expecting as much money as i got (although granted, some of it is in loans)

My letter came today! Yeah, definitely a lot more than I had expected. Hopefully it will be enough for my parents to let me do an overnight. Are any of you guys going to one of them?

so for those who received more finaid than expected - did they actually give you even more than what you expected based on your FAFSA EFC? Like say yor FAFSA had an EFC of 30K or something - did they give you more finaid than just approx 15-20K to cover the rest so that they took care of some of your EFC too? - because that would be a dream come true. My EFC is middle of the road-ish, but it’s still just too much for my family to afford. Now I’m really excited/nervous to hear back!

I haven’t received my finaid yet, and got in early.

I submitted the news of my mom’s job loss though, shortly after my admission, and I suppose they’re considering that, which I really appreciate.

got my finaid today - doesn’t look like enough for my family - I just think the EFC set by the FAFSA is so outrageous - like I can afford only a little over 1/2 of what the EFC expects - it’s not Mac’s fault - it’s the system’s. looks like one more middle classer screwed out of a chance for a top private LAC education. :(

Mac is really nice - i actually was sent 3 separate letters: one with finaid data, one with a letter to me, and one with a letter to my parents - Macalester is definitely the best school in terms of applicant relations - no other school has done so much.
