Early Read

my friend applied to johns hopkins and already found out that she got in; her dad called for admissions asking for an early read! is this unheard of elsewhere?

that's a lie

Unless her dad has a building there with his name on it (and even then) it is highly unlikely.
Some kids do, however, get "likely" letters around this time.

yes, for Swat, it was March 12th last year. The early writes were received by some on that day.

The "likely" letters are sent to the kids that college wants to lure in (often those are high achieving URMs). It has nothing to do with parents calling the admissions.

Sometimes colleges will pressure students for a commitment - to a scholarship, perhaps to play a sport. Under those circumstances, a student may petition the admissions office of a preferred, probably more selective school for an early read. Somehow you would have to prove that you had been accepted to another school, and they were pressuring you for an answer -this would involve parents, counselors, etc, not a casual phone call.

lol. yes, because i come onto these boards all the time for fun and make up stories. she was an athletic recruit, if that means anything.

Listen, if you come to this board and make up stories as you just admitted, then don't expect the next round of responses to your queries to be serious either. And don't expect parents to respond at all!

I think RedbUll was joking.... it seemed like a serious question to me.

I was being sarcastic due to the immediate assumption by mzlover that I am a liar, which I take pride in the fact that I most certainly am not. I keep forgetting that you are parents and are not accustomed to the phrase "lol", which means laughing out loud. please excuse my inconsideration =]

how come everyone on this site knows every one else's Stats? that is frigging scary.. they are like.. well ur stats are great.. ***? does everyone know my stats by now??? paranoia encroaching.. big brother!! aaah!!!

I think because people post them in other threads.
