Earned 6 credits for CHS French 1 & 2/Does that equate to French 4 on college application?

I have taken French every year in HS. I am currently taking CHS French 2- I will have 6 credits when I graduate. On college applications it askes what is your farthest French- I don’t want to put French 2 - should it be French 4?

What is “CHS”?

Sorry it is College in High School. I am earning College credits 3 from French 1 and now 3 from French 2. So on the college app should I say I have 2 years of French or 4? I have already gone through french 1-3 HS regular and in 11th grade I took college 1 and now college 2.

Don’t count the French 1 you took in 8th grade. Count the French 2 from 9th, French 3 from 10th, College 1 from 11th, and now College 2 in 12th. This is your fourth year of French.

ty so helpful!

In foreign language, college semester 2 usually gets to the same level as high school year 2 or 3, depending on the college and high school. It looks like your college French courses merely duplicated your high school French courses, since you reached high school year 3.

Unless college French 2 got you to a level equivalent to your high school’s French 4 or higher (check with the French teachers in your high school and college), then you really have only the equivalent of high school French 3.

If college French 2 is second *year/i college French, then it may be significantly more advanced than high school French 3. Ask the French teachers in your high school and college.
