Can anyone give some insight on the EES curriculum at SU. My D has been accepted and as a parent I'm trying to gather as much info on the colleges she has been accepted to. Of course job placement after graduation and how well the school helps in that area is big on my list. Also, Is the EES program considered top notch out in the industry? Thank for all your help.

Congratulations on the acceptance.
Although I do not know anything helpful about the program, prior posters on this forum have had positive experiences in seeking answers to questions directly from SU officials. Accordingly, although it would not produce the independent information you seek, reaching out to the head of placement; the head of admissions; and the head of that department might produce helpful information you could then supplement with outside sources.

Best of luck

What other schools interest her? Make sure she visits and spends the night at her too choices.Kids change majors.Fit is a huge factor!

She’s been accepted at Wilkes, Susquehanna, Juniata and Elizabethtown, it’s Elizabethtown and Susquehanna 1-2 right now. We have been to all some 2 times. Maybe I’m wrong but as a parent I’m looking for who can get her the best job. Who has the biggest name in the field, I guess the job market and economy has me a little paranoid. Thanks for your help and any other advise.

Where does she feel like she’ll be happy? She can always go to a name brand grad school.
At SU she’ll be safe on a beautiful campus in a little Pennsylvania river town.Mountains around.Small classes.Excellent faculty.Friendly student body.
I’m sure other parents will chip in.

No doubt, we live only an hour and a half from SU, and it is the nicest campus we’ve seen. My sister graduated from there and my Mom was from Lewisburg. We had an interview with one of the Professors in the EES department and he nearly put us to sleep, which really shocked us. We were so disappointed. We would interview again with another Prof. if it comes down to SU or EC.

My youngest daughter is a freshman at SU. For her, it was also between SU and Etown. (my oldest daughter went to Etown, so we are quite familiar with it as well) I think there are more activities and places to eat at SU. (from a parent’s perspective) Both schools are in similar cute, quaint small towns. There are however, more places to shop in Selinsgrove. (Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath and Beyond, Walmart and a small mall) At Etown, the closest store of that kind is in Hershey or Lancaster. Also, SU has weekly shuttles that run on an hourly basis to all those stores above, plus the mall. This is especially convenient for students who don’t have a car on campus. I don’t really know anything about the ESS program, but my daughter loves it there and says she hears good things from her science major friends. They do have a beautiful new science building. My recommendation to any prospective student is to spend the night at all schools that are serious contenders and sit in on a few classes.

You guys are so much help…
