Ease of switching majors UMass vs. UVM

My S19 has been accepted as a psych major at both schools, but now he’s telling me he’d love to take some marketing courses, and music courses too and…ok, he’s a little undecided! S17 is a poli sci major at UMass and says it’s tough for non-Isenberg students to take business courses. I’m researching this myself, and we’ll ask questions at accepted student days, but does anyone have first-hand knowledge about 1. how easy it is to take courses in other schools within UVM/UMass 2. How difficult it is to switch to a major in a different school within the university? (At UVM, psych is within the College of Arts and Sciences, and at UMass it’s in the School of Natural Sciences). Thanks!

At UMass, Isenberg classes are open only to Isenberg students. Few classes are available to economics students at Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Entry level classes are tough as a freshman at UVM if it’s not in your college/major. Doable though. Switching seems relatively easy, my son’s roommate changed majors although I think the new major is still withing his original college. It would only be an issue if the new major had pre-reqs in science or math that could cause extra coursework.

Switching can add time if not well planned out though, but adding minors is really easy.

I am also interested in knowing the ease of changing majors. I got into Economics and would like to move to Isenberg

I don’t think it’s an easy/high percentage accepted path to transfer to Isenberg, but it is possible.

I’d suggest following up directly with UMass.
