I really wanted to apply to Duke with a public policy major. I assumed since it has a whole school dedicated to it (Terry Sanford), it's a pretty high up there major at Duke.

But will they see my interest in Public policy and critique me more critically than say, if I applied for an Econ major? Would my chances of acceptance go up if I just applied for a more common major?

no, it really wont make a difference. econ is a really respected and high major as well at duke and is not easy at all. really the major you apply with doesnt matter cuz no matter what you will be undeclared, honestly i dont think it makes a difference in admissions at all. just go with w/e it really doesnt matter.

The major you want to take on doesn't matter.
They know a lot of people change their minds AND there are always those pesky intro weed-out classes to ensure that not everyone is going to be an Econ major, ;)

It has no bearing on your admission. There is a slight difference between Trinity and Pratt, but probably mostly due to the people who apply to each school.
