What skills, prerequisites, ECS are necessary or good to apply as a Public Policy Major... that is if you applied as a BIO major, duke would take into account of your science background in high school.

Actually I don't think intended major has a significant effect on admissions at Duke. So many people change their minds during college. If Duke admits you, the adcom probably thinks you could succeed at a wide range of concentrations within either Trinity or Pratt.

However, are there any necessary or helpful subjects needed for this major?

There are no required courses you'd have to take before college. If you want "helpful" classes, the best I can think of is AP US Gov and maybe an economics course. But like I said, it really isn't going to help or hurt you in admissions to Trinity. I'd spend more time worrying about the substantive parts of your app.

PP major .....hmmmm I want a BS degree...BS

Just a note-I talked to my advisor (a PP Professor) today, and he said that the Public Policy program was going to undergo some changes, including limiting the number of students in the program. He hinted that weeder courses would be used, but admissions might play a role.

Econ 55 is a pre-req for the major, so an AP economics course or two might be wise.

Don't worry about your major - once you get in you can easily change, might have to limit your electives if you wait too long. Still, I transferred from Pratt to PPS several years ago w/np. I don't know if it's different now. Also, stats is good for pre-PPS.
