I already know about the federal stafford loans...I have those, but I need more money. My parents are unwilling to do the PLUS loans. There combined income is too much to get any pell grants. They are not willing to co-sign either.

My credit is infantile....not bad, but young.

I have only worked during the summer (8 months total from 03 and 04).

There used to be a loan called the US Bank Education loan in which there was a $5k/year limit for those with no credit history (at the time I had 0 credit). They have since ditched that particular loan and all the ones they have now are credit based which means more than likely I would need a co-signer...

Any suggestions for loans for an undergrad with young credit, no steady job (full time student that only works in the summer), and parents who will not co-sign?

Why can't your parents serve as your co signer?

Look into http://studentloan.citibank.com Citibank, they have a private loan where you don't have to pay anything until you graduate, you will need a co signer, but they won't have to pay for anything while your in school, unless you want to pay the interests that accumalate during school, or just wait until you graduate.

I don't think it's possible for you to get a student loan without a co signer if you don't have credit history, citibanks at least requires an income of at least 15000

I remember recommending key.com a while back but I don't know how that turned out. Also, last year my planned cosigner decided not to cosign (family trouble, worried about credit) and I just e-mailed the finaid dept and they hooked me up with a private, university loan instead of a citibank loan (which requires a cosigner).

btw, its not that my parents cant co-sign...its the fact that they wont....refuse to do it. So I have to come up with sources of money on my own....not the funnest thing in the world, but you do what you gotta do I suppose.

why don't you call up the school and ask them if they have any university connections to get a private loan without a cosigner just like emsibdn did

I've talked to them before about the situation but they really have not been that much of a help. I was able to get a government grant based on a disability, which helps with about 1/3 of the cost, but I am bearly making it on the rest....I dunno...I guess I will just have to try again for loans and see what happens...maybe I'll get "lucky"
