Easiest Major?

What is the easiest major in L&S, one which does not require a high number of courses?

I was planning on doing Haas, but that doesn't interest me as much anymore. Right now I just want to get a high GPA so that maybe later I can go to Law or Business school. I've heard getting a business undergrad major is not that helpful for an MBA anyways.

I'm considering some type of ROTC program and also studying one language, so I don't want to be bogged down by an intensive major that I'm not really interested in.

I was thinking I'd do well at Rhetoric, but Legal Studies seems pretty damn easy.

its subjective, however there are a group of majors which i wouldnt exactly call very difficult

and what would they be

I'll get it out of the way before anyone else says it, despite the fact it's not true:

American Studies

It makes me mad that people think that about American Studies. You dont even take that many classes in the American Studies department! Its mostly stuff from other departments like English, History, and Linguistics. What the heck? If those majors are considered to be difficult, and we're taking many of our classes in these departments... how could American Studies be easy? Is the senior thesis the easy part? Or is it the single prereq in the American Studies department... meh.

Sorry, Andrewtdx, this isnt directed at you, just people in general. If I remember right, youre an American Studies major as well so Im sure you agree at least partly. Ive just gotten alot of weird looks when I tell people my major and its for no good reason. Very frustrating. American Studies is just as legit as any other liberal arts major.

lets not turn this into another American Studies thread

The easiest major is that which you are best at and have the largest interest in. Does this answer your question? :)

Well, when browsing through the schedule of classes, i noticed that there is a department of cuneiform.

Cuneiform.

Oh man, I am right now laughing so hard, my side hurts. This has never happened to me before, and I love it.

DRab, you know it doesnt, as evidenced by your smiley face

Linguistics has 5 total specific course requirements, and a few general unit requirements, but if you don't care about the subject you will have difficulty motivating yourself. A few other subjects have such few class requirements, but the same problem exists.

And by the way,
rhetoric is no fluff major. It is supposed to be about as rigorous as philosophy, from what i've heard.

easy: I know exactly how you feel. I love the Am St department.

And there are no easy majors at Cal, really. You have to work hard here.

Mass communications.

Mass Communicatons being easy is a myth. You actually have to do extensive analysis and learn about critical theory among other topics. The average amount of A's given in any course under the major is around 20-30%. I love it though! Totally worth it if you're interested.

D .n e.

Ok Final Star is rather confused and s/he has no reason to be laughing

Cuneiform is not a department, the same way Latin is not a department, but a subdepartment. The Near Eastern studies department offers classes on the Akkadian and Sumerian and Hittite languages under the subdepartment title Cuneiform. These languages are by no means easy.

sociology! :D

womens studies?

LGBT Studies.

4 year bump? Really guys?

^haha seriously.
