Hi
I am trying to get into the best law school so that means i have to get the best GPA I can get
Which is the easiest social sciences major to get an A average?
Thanks

well, im sure you know this but law school is REALLY HARD, especially the “really good ones”. If you can’t hack it as an undergrad then good luck with law school! lol. However, I would say I don’t know which one is the easiest but most lawyers I knew went for philo or poli sci or history before heading on to law school. I think history would probably be the easiest, but I could be completely wrong! good luck!

Majors in rank of ease:
- A Major you like
- A Major you think might be easy
- A Major somebody else thinks is easy
- A Major a CC member recommends you

History isn’t a cakewalk. It is one of three departments on campus which require an honors thesis (35-50 pages) just to graduate. Departmental honors aren’t awarded unless you receive an A- (for standard honors, min. GPA of 3.5) or an A (for high or highest honors, min. GPA of 3.7, which are then evaluated by a faculty ‘honors commitee’) on the thesis. I couldn’t speculate about philosophy or political science.

Political Science is easy enough. Only difference between History and PS in terms of thesis is that for PS, you have to apply to the program. And if you get accepted, then you get to write a thesis and generally the same rules as CalBear2009.

Philosophy is the hardest. If you want a good GPA, don’t consider it.

Other easy majors:
Legal Studies, American Studies, Economics, Environmental Science, EEP, PEIS, IAS, ISF etc etc…

LAWL at Econ being easy. I’ve heard it’s hard as hell here.

You want easy? Take Media Studies.

But you should really do what you like to do. It’s hard to do well in a major you dislike (unless of course, you’re planning on MCB, EECS, BioE. THEN, you should go for something easier.)

Econ can be quite difficult depending on the courses you choose. Courses like 101A and 141 are pretty difficult. As an applied math/econ double major i think the difficulty of the math based econ courses are comparable to upper div math.

Linguistics isn’t too deflated. You could try out a linguistics class and see if you like it. It’s a fun major.

Anything with _____ Studies is easy.

Anyone who says that Econ is easy at Berkeley has no idea what they’re talking about. It’s the hardest of the social sciences (which explains why it has the best job prospects among SS majors fresh out of undergrad).

Legal Studies is actually a good option or Philosophy they are both not easy, and I feel there are not really any easy majors here. But legal studies will prepare you for the logic section on your LSAT as will philosophy in addition to that Legal Studies has alot of intersting Case law courses that may be of interest to you since you are trying to go into law. The major is not a Pre-Law Major tho it is more the study of “Philosophy of Law”
