easiets school at cornell to get into

what are the easiest of the 6 to get into at cornel? (CAS, CALS, ILR, Human Ec, Hotel, Engineering, architecture)

Someone posted this link the other day...

http://dpb.cornell.edu/irp/undergrad.htm

You can look at the stats there and divide the # accepted by # who applied to see which has the highest % of admission. :-) Hope this helps!!

Percentages...

Engineering: 38.00% (1734/4563) Attending: 41.70%

Human Ecology: 35.13% (431/1227) Attending: 62.65%

ILR: 32.17% (222/690) Attending: 71.17%

CALS: 28.71% (978/3406) Attending: 67.18%

Hotel: 25.67% (202/787) Attending: 81.19%

CAS: 25.46% (2403/9437) Attending: 42.16%

Architecture: 22.32% (160/717) Attending: 67.50%

This can't really tell you how easy it is to get in, just how easy based on the number of applicants, b/c what if in CAS 4500 of those that applied, shouldn't have even applied in the first place, meaning they stunk, but in engineering maybe only those that really good applied,

You could also say the the strength/difficulty of the program could also correlate to how many admitted chose to attend, so that if the school is difficult it is of high caliber so that more admitted students would choose it, so in this case Engineering is again easiest and Hotel is hardest, and it was one of the harder ones based on acceptance rate

However you can not go by this b/c Engineering is supposed to be highly rated, so it would be weird for it also to be the easiest to get into.

Offer up your interpretations of the data.

depends all on your strengths and weaknesses. Engineering has a higher acceptance rate but the applicant pool is stronger.

Looking at the following pages may give you an idea of the comparative difficulty of Acceptance into the various Undergraduate Colleges at Cornell University.

This is a link that takes you to a page with the profile of the class of 2008.
It has over all SAT distributions shown.

http://dpb.cornell.edu/irp/pdf/FactBook/Admissions/Undergraduate/profile.pdf

The following link goes to a page that shows the Endowed Divisions Stats. for enrolled students.

http://dpb.cornell.edu/irp/pdf/FactBook/Enrollment/Undergraduate/current_end.pdf

The next link goes to a page that shows the Contract Divisions Stats. for enrolled students.

http://dpb.cornell.edu/irp/pdf/FactBook/Enrollment/Undergraduate/current_con.pdf

Both Pages break out the SAT scores for each College.

The last link takes you to the Number of Students in the College that are in the top 10% of their High School Class.

http://dpb.cornell.edu/irp/pdf/FactBook/Admissions/Undergraduate/Freshmen/top10.pdf

You might note that five of the colleges have over 80% of the Entering Students in the top 10% of their High School Class. With Engineering being the highest with 94% of the Entering Students in the Top 10% of their High School Class.
The two exceptions being Hotel (60%) and Archiecture, Art and Planning (71%)
After looking at these pages and comparing your stats to those of those who are enrolled you should have an idea of your chances.

The real answer however is that the college at Cornell University that would be easiest for "YOU" to get into is the one that best matches your interests and abilities.
What do you want to study???

Wow...its surprising that Engineering has the second highest SAT verbal averages....I thought it would be much lower...

No way, I think writing is generally lower for Engineering applicants, but verbal and math are still high.

YAY i'm still in the running, but seriously, altho the percentages are insanely high, cornell engineering is supposed to be as hard as columbia seas, or penn's seas to get into... it's hardcore... a-n-a-l if u will* i hope i don't get booted again

whats best for premed

It depends on what factors you're considering and what major you want to pursue.
Most people would say CAS, but if you're a NY state resident going to CALS would be a lot cheaper for the same biological sciences major as CAS. Human Ecology is also a school that offers pre-med.. it's really dependent on what you want to focus on as your major...

thanks a lot
btw i heard that there are like no male applicants to the human ecology school
it might be fun at first lol but i think after a while id be isolated...

yeah, guys might have an easier chance of getting into humec, i think the ratio in that college is astonding! like 3-5 girls per boy.
