I have searched the threads on this school and am hoping for some more info...What does anyone know about the quality of teaching, performance opportunities, showcase and job opportunities for grads. Are the kids who go there happy? Any info would be helpful.

My son is at Elon, also in NC, and we know very little about ECU; however, several years ago, when he was looking at colleges, we had the impression that one must attend the school for awhile, maybe a year, before auditioning to be in the MT program. You should double check if this rule still applies.

I think they have a famous grad - maybe Sandra Bullock?

UNC-G, Application State and ECU are the 3 UNC schools known for Music. Around here the perception is that UNC-G is the Vocal School, App State is the Instrument School (also the outdoor / mountain school), and ECU is the other school. Some of the most talented music students still choose ECU because they want to study in a large eclectic school. All are good schools that are attractive to different kinds of students. UNC-W is really intensifying their music programs and this year will be the start of some great program changes. I think that most students who choose the UNC school that fits them best are very happy.

Elon (private school) has one of the best MT programs in the South and is very competitive nationally. Academic expectations will also be much more demanding at Elon.

Laughing - guess I should check when my spell check is on automatic correct. Application State should be Appalachian State.

There should be a college named Application State. :)
