Easy English class to fulfill FYWR

Hey, so I was just wondering what an interesting english class is to take for the first year writing requirement. I'm pretty bad at writing so I don't want it to be too difficult and I don't want the professor to be too tough at grading.

Please respond!!
Thanks.

Hey Aaya -

In my opinion, the definitive way to go would be either English 124 or English 125. They’re what most people take to fulfill FYWR. English 124 is primarily literature based, so there’s reading involved and then you write about what you’ve read. 125 is more of a structure based writing class - you learn a specific type of writing, such as a persuasive essay. As far as individual professors go, you should check out ratemyprofessors. Generally, the responses on there are too critical of the professor, but it can be nice to have a general idea.

Good luck, and GO BLUE!

125 is super easy.

We had 4 essays over the semester and a few short assignments, most of which were done in class. The essays are pretty short too, max 6 pages double spaced. All the reading is on short articles or essays.

THanks for the responses. Could you specify which section of 124 or 125 you took, svtcobra?

So what books do you read in 124?

You can also take Comparative Literature 122 or a History class to fulfill the requirement.
