Well i guess it doesnt matter what you applied to since if you have the stats youll get into an undeclared major?

If anybody has been already accepted to the school of communication, could you guys please post your stats?

Your scaring me msolo45. lol. Are you in the Texas Media sequence by any chance? How do you like it? That’s what I’m planning on pursuing, if I get into UT of course.

@ozzy906 I didn’t mean to scare you!! I’m currently taking the class you must take before you apply to Texas Media and I definitely plan on applying. Don’t be scared… the advertising faculty is insanely equipped with first-hand knowledge in advertising and I know if you (or anyone else) come to UT for advertising, you’ll get every penny worth of education. Good luck to you and let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi msolo45! I was just wondering…how do you know that you only need a B in that class in order to get into the major? Are you just saying that or do you actually know?

mona1234

You need to go to their website, find graduation requirements and course prerequisites. Usually there is some basic introductory course, or 2, or 3… and you have to get certain grades in these courses to be able to advance to upper-level classes. These introductory courses are often called “weed-out classes” because it is difficult to get a good grade.

All the students from my D’s school who were ever accepted to The College of Communication were at least state qualifiers (state meet participants) in different types of UIL writing, debate etc
My D has related work experience, related internship experience, portfolio and related national awards besides having all the usual stuff (president of this, treasurer of that, all kinds of honor societies, UIL state qualifier and participant etc… 3 pp resume)

Mona1234…the class that he is referring to is called 318J. It is a journalism class that all PR and Advertising majors must make a B or better in, to be able to advance in those majors. It is a weed out class. My daughter took it last semester and did well. however, she said it is full of students taking it for the 2nd time because they didn’t make at least a B the first time. Like most things that are worthwhile, it is not easy.

The Communication school is top notch. In fact, they are getting a new building right now that is state of the art. The advertsing school will be named after Stan Richards, who founded and owns The Richards Group, a world reknowned advertising agency based in Dallas. Never underestimate the Comm School at UT…

Anyone know how difficult it would be to transfer into the college of natural sciences?

Tithe2012
I’m trying to transfer to CNS as well. I dont know if its easy to get in, i just know it isn’t as tough as Mcombs or Cockrell. I know thats not saying much.
what are you stats

UT Admissions advisor told me, “The average transfer GPA for Natural Sciences has been between 3.61 and 3.62 for the last three years.”

Just an observation, this year I found that many of my friends that were not admitted into CNS got into McCombs…Not sure what that means but I would assume it means Natural Sciences is starting to become more competitive to get into.

^^ Very interesting. Well UT’s Astronomy program is ranked pretty high… top 10 I think!
