Easy & Safe commute to/from Center City?

Does Philly have a subway? If so, does it stop at Temple U and Center City? How long is the ride between the two places? Does it pass through any bad neighborhood along the way?

yeah, when you live at Temple you will primarily use the Broad Street Line. It has a specific stop for TU (Cecil B. Moore) and there is another stop closer to the White Hall and J&H dorms at the other end of campus (Susquehanna).

Its roughly 15 minutes from TU south to Center City, so the ride isn't bad. You don't pass any real bad neighborhoods between them... all of the really bad ones are north of Temple, where you will not necessarily need to go, anyway. I feel generally safe on the subway, and I am not even from the city!

Thanks. I'd live in Center City. I'd be just taking classes as a graduate student. I haven't decided yet if I would be going yet. There aren't many programs in the field I am interested in and even fewer in big cities. That's why I've been finding more info and trying to convince myself I'd like Philly.

Dont worry about the 'crime' and 'unsafe' crap people say. It's perfectly fine.
