Easy Self-Studies

Hello,

I am currently a sophomore and I want to get National AP Scholar by the end of junior year so I can put it on college applications. I am wondering what are the easiest self-studies. I am posting in Social Sciences because these are pretty much the only ones I can self study. The AP classes I have taken and will take look like this. These are ONLY the classes.

Sophomore:
AP USH
AP Human Geo (self)

Junior:
AP Bio
AP US Gov
AP Macro
English III (but taking AP test)

^^ I need two more! I was thinking Micro because I have a friend who self-studied Micro and said it overlapped somewhat with Macro. The same thing with Comp govt and US govt. What are your suggestions?

I took Psych this year as one of my APs and honestly, i think I could have self-studied it. try it; it’s not very difficult.

AP Comparative Government is a relatively easy self study, just requires interest and solid dedication.

I’d go with comp. gov for sure.

Do you think I could get a 4 on Pysch with no previous knowledge?

^ Definitely not. But you could get a 5 on it relatively easily if you dedicate a whole weekend to the Barron’s prep book. I wouldn’t recommend this, however. I spent about a month just pulling it out whenever I had free time so I was well prepared by the time I took the AP exam this year. Pretty sure I got a 5.

AP Psychology was essentially a joke compared to other AP’s I’ve taken. I did nothing all year, got low B’s on the tests most of the time (as a result of doing nothing but listening to the lectures), and I’m pretty sure I got a 5 by going through Barron’s the day before the exam and taking each chapter quiz and reviewing the sections I did the worst on.

Granted, I did take Psych 1 and Psych 2 last year, so that probably can account for a large portion of my ability to blow it off and still get a 5.

AP Enviro. It will help you in Biology too, because most classes never get to ecology, so you’ll ace any eco question they put on there.

Micro/Macro seem pretty easy for my self studies. I heard Environmental science is pretty easy if you take biology.

Psych is kinda a joke. Just read barrons and you get a 3 as long as you have a brain.

Well I meant no previous knowledge in Pysch meaning no previous classes. Of course I would read a prep book or two. I’ve pretty much selected Micro as one that I’m going to do but I’m still not sure whether to do Pysch, Enviro, or Comp Gov. How much does Enviro overlap with AP Bio? Comp gov just seems like a pain so I will either go Psych or Enviro

I would definitely recommend psych. Self studied psych and apes this year and felt psych was much easier. You can probably get an easy 5 by reading the barrons (takes 1-2 days)

ANYTHING BUT ECON
fmlll that was impossible!

which econ???

Definetely not Microeconomics, I had a horrible teacher and spent the last 24 hours in hell… but it was still pretty hard!

Macroeconomics is a doable self-study and while it’s true that there is some overlap with Micro, I highly dis-advise self studying it. Too many concepts/graphs/information to process.

Psychology is generally considered to be one of the easiest APs and I thought that it was decent but be warned that you can’t go in with little previous knowledge and pass. It may be simple, but it is very information heavy.

For me, Literature and Composition was the easiest I’ve taken (out of 6 [but I am very good at lit]). It requires very little actual study since the multiple choice is basically reading comprehension. The essays are require a little more effort but spend a weekend reading through Barrons and you’ll be fine.

I studied psych about a week before using Barron’s and the weekend before, I read Crash Course and looked over flashcards. It was my first AP test, but I am very positive that I at least got a 4. Very doable.

AP Psych is a really easy self-study. I did that this year, while also studying for 4 other AP tests. I used 5 Steps to a 5 prep book and Barron’s flashcards- I’d recommend those, also you could get Barron’s prep book.

No, not economics.

Definitely Psychology. Also, if you’re good at a language, you’d be pretty okay with the AP test for it.

how about human geography?

Sounds like the consensus is Psych. I have already taken Human Geo ^^^. I think it will be Comparative Government and Psychology.
