EC vs. Academic

<p>I am conflicted whether should I run for ASB President for my school. The positive side is looks good on a college application (hopefully) and the negative side is it takes two periods out of six. </p>

<p>Currently I am Junior Class President which takes one period out of six.</p>

<p>I will end up filling the rest of my periods with AP Classes.</p>

<p>Which will look better on a college application?
Senior Class President with one extra AP Class or ASB President?</p>

<p>What are the chances of going to a higher ranking university in the state or nation with EC? Do they look heavily on EC? </p>

<p>Taking the AP classes will look better. At a lot of schools “Student Government” are just the kids who sell tickets at Prom. Yours may be different, but the Admissions Officers may not know/care. </p>

<p>Filling up three periods with what is at worst being an indoor garage sale cashier does not look very good. </p>

<p>If you really want some good ECs, do unusual things. Restore old cars, drive in Autocross events, intern at Blackwater, etc.</p>
