Is it possible for an Econ/Math major to take any Econ 106 classes that supposed to be limited to Biz Econ students?

Before you ask why I'm not attempting to be a biz econ major, I realized I want to work in Sales+Trading at a bulge bracket firm, and I decided to go into a more quantitative major in which I'll be able to take probability classes, mathematical finance classes, and straight up more math to help prepare for a S&T job.

However, there is a specific part of S&T I'm interested in, and its fixed income. I noticed that 106V, which is investments, covers that section and was wondering if I could enter if space permits.

They’ve opened up 106V to non Biz Econ majors for fall quarter only so far. You need to meet some criteria (I think 3.0 in 11 and 101, and 3.2 overall UCLA GPA) for it. Also 106T is not restricted to Biz Econ majors. For all the other ones, you do need to be in the major to enroll in them. I think during summer those restrictions are dropped, though, so you might want to double check that.

So 106V’s recommended prereq is 106F, which is finance. So they’ve opened the 106V course to non majors but not the prereq? So ideally I should take 106F in the summer or something and 106V in fall?

An Econ-Alert went out with all the administrative specifications so check that to be sure. But I don’t think you really NEED 106F before 106V, otherwise they wouldn’t have opened it up to non-Biz Econ majors.
