...then Econ. 11? Econ 41? I'm an incoming freshman that tested out of 1 and 2. Also, should I be reviewing a bit this summer if I am going to go straight into 11 or 41?
Also, is there a website that lists the various econ courses and their prereqs (and for all other subjects for that matter)?

Bump It Up

Econ 41 has no prereqs.

To take Econ 11, you also need to have completed (or placed out of) Math 31A and 31B.

If you plan on taking Econ 11 this fall, you should definitely review Econ 1. Are you just regular Econ?

mannn econ 11 with mcdevitt is da shizzle. on the real. he is good. but he is harddddd. econ 11 is known as the weeder, it separates the true econ majors from the faint of heart...econ 41 is a joke, seriously. take it in the summer or somethin'

here is a better sequence for you, 11, 101, 102, 41 (in the summer), then 103, and then u declare ur major, then take upper divs, tho you dont have to declare before taking upper divs. also think of a minor

I'm pre-biz econ right now (incoming freshman) but could also go math/econ, econ, applied math, etc...

my concern is that I got 4's on both my AP macro and micro tests, which places me out of 1 and 2, but those scores don't make me 100% comfortable in just skipping those classes

...since I placed out of 31A but not 31B (5 on Calc AB), I guess I just have to take Econ 41 or no econ at all for the fall...is Econ 41 really just "Statistics for Economists," because I got a 4 on the AP Stat exam last year...i guess i'm just confusing myself now

any help appreciated

Econ 41 is just basic statistics. There were hardly any mentions of economics in that class at all.
If you got a 4 in AP stats, then you should be fine.

Unfortunately, AP credit for stats can't be applied towards Econ 41 (or anything else, for that matter). :(

like i said econ 41 is a joke, but the dude who is teaching 41 in the fall is a moron, bruce brown is the most hectic, unorganized, self-conflicted, and most importantly, confused econ prof there is...well, then there is that idiot ratika narag...but dont take brown unless you have to. he'll hate you if havent had him before.

I'm taking 41 with Brown this fall. :[ Are his exams difficult?

naw thats the good part. his tests are easy...but he makes u do worthless stuff. i dunno if you gonna get hw, but for econ 2, he made us do weekly online assignments and stuff (apelia). total waste of time. no one cared...big grade dropper or upper if you do it right. the avg for the hw is around 83, means no one gives a ****...so if you care and do the readings weekly, you'll have a big adv. over everyone else

Econ 41 is a pretty flexible class in that it's not a prereq for anything except for Econ 103. From my personal experience, I don't really think you need to review Econ 1 for 11.

actually, econ 11 teaches you the stuff all over again... except more in depth, and more twists and turns.

Hey cheesecake, when are you going to post your thread about the suckiness of the Econ dept? I'm looking forward to it. :D
