Hello all,
I need some advice regarding taking Econ 402 before Econ 401. The Econ Department strongly recommends taking Econ 401 before Econ 402, but it’s only an advisory prerequisite, not enforced. I’m currently enrolled in Econ 402 for the Fall. Considering I’m a rising sophomore, I’m very lucky to get in to the class as there is a wait list of 50+.
Here are my reasons for taking Econ 402 before 401.
- Professor Cho is teaching Econ 402 in the Fall. I had the pleasure of having him as my professor for Econ 102, he is truly the best Econ professor in the department.
- I just took Econ 102 in the Winter term so the terminology will be fresh on my mind, also am more interested in macro.
- Econ 401 is being taught by Professor Proulx, who I hear is the worser of the two professors who tend to teach the course (Borgers being the other).
- I’ve defied economic advice before as I took Econ 101 and Calc 2 in the same term, which was highly recommended for me not to do since many can’t handle the workload. It is fair to say that I came in with AP credit for both micro, macro, and calc 1 though in which calc 1’s material was reviewed for half of Calc 2.
- If this helps, I got an A- in both Econ 101 and 102, and consider myself good at calculus, especially deriving, chain rule. etc.
As a side note, I currently have an application to the Ross Business School, and if I get in I would want to do the Econ minor still, instead of an Econ major as a plan B. Thanks in advance to those that comment, it is much appreciated.
