Econ Major OK for I-Banking?

I have just been accepted to The College of Arts and Sciences at Penn. I plan on majoring in Econ, but I might try to transfer into Wharton.

If I decide to stay at the College and major in Econ will I still be a competitive I-Bank recruit?

Will I-Bank firms overlook Econ majors and concentrate only on Finance majors at Wharton? How important is the major?

Any suggestions for making myself more competitive?

What do these I-Banking firms like to see in a possible recruit?

(I know some of these questions are generalizations but I think you get the idea)

Thanks a lot.

Of course economics is a good choice for I-banking.

Be hard working, personable, and don't make mistakes. This will bring you success.
