Hey, does anyone know what the econ placement exam is like? What format is it in, short answers? And is it pretty much the microeconomics AP curriculum?

Thanks!

You're not required to take an economics placement exam unless you want to test out of ECON 211-Principles of Microeconomics and have it count toward your major. I don't know if you're a freshman or a transfer, but if you're an incoming freshman, my personal advice would be to go ahead and take ECON 211 unless you really feel that you know the micro foundations backward and forward. I am a mathematical economics major, and as much as I didn't enjoy ECON 211 my first semester freshman year, the calculus-based theory classes will be easier, and you'll get a broader feel for the economics major at Rice. If you're a transfer, you've probably already decided on economics and need to take the exam to have it transfer. In that case, I really can't help you because I didn't take the exam myself. However, I seriously doubt it's multiple choice.
