is anyone here an Econ+Acctg major @ UCSB? What are the recruitment opportunities like there? Is there a good network for future CPAs? Internship opportunities? Connections to major CPA/Accounting firms? Where do most UCSB grads go to work after graduation? I am from Los Angeles and would like to work in Los Angeles after graduating. Are there a lot of LA firms recruiting at UCSB?

Amazing opportunities if you can manage a 3.4+ GPA and E.C. activities. Firms from everywhere recruit, SF/LA/SJ/SD or wherever as long as you let them know your preferred destination. You’ll generally have three chances that most people aren’t aware of: summer leadership in year 2, internship in year 3, and full-time in year 4 to land a job with firms. Nearly every big name you can think of will recruit here… but be aware the competition is also tough

how tough are the classes for econ and accounting majors? Is maintaining a 3.4+ significantly difficult?

Probably, because if everyone could do it then there wouldn’t be amazing opportunities.

Maintaining a 3.4 is pretty difficult not because of the classes but because the curve and being consistent. For lower divisions, there’s a quota of how many As and Bs that can be given out so people study and doing it over and over for many quarters… if you’re disciplined, you’ll be fine
