So I was wondering how good the program is and how east is it to get internships over the summer?

The Accounting program is really good, it is considered to be one of the Big 4’s favorite schools to recruit from. They have an accounting accociation, which arranges a formal meeting and presentations from a different firm each week which gives you an opportunity to meet with the recruiters. The program gets a good amount of financial support from the Big4 and other accounting firms.

If you have the right stats and personality, you will for sure get hired by an accounting firm. I personally interned and signed full time with one of the big 4, so trust me when I tell you, you have everything you need in the UCSB’s accounting program and the school itself to succeed. It depends on how you utilize the resources.

The program itself is actually going to get better in the next few years. They are going to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 for the Pre-req courses starting next year, that means you will be surrounded by good students.

The year I interned(before the economy got bad) 13 students interned with my big 4 firm. So based on that, atleast 50 students interned with the big 4 out of a total of 300 students in the Accounting program. I am talking about just interning…if you know the Big 4, it is harder to get an internship than get hired full time.
