"Economics and Operations Research"

I was reading on the Columbia website about their financial engineering focus. I know that this is only for kids in the engineering school but it said that for people interested in FE who are in the College, there is a special joint major called "Economics and Operations Research".

Has anyone heard of this/know about this? Can anyone give me more details?

Does one have to apply to get into this program or what?

Anyone plz

if i were in the college, Econ-OR would be my major of choice. Some days I wish I were in the college and studying econ-or. It’s a good major, few people do it, but it gives you great preparation for something like sales and trading on wall street. It gives you good prep for wall street in general. You take econ classes and OR classes both of which are strong, heavily populated departments.

Not to start a huge Barnard debate (if you want one, please post it on the Barnard thread which I am done with) but do you know if students at Barnard are able to pursue that major as well?
