Economics at Berkeley

<p>Can I be admitted to he philosophy at Berkeley and once I am there switch to Economics with everything but math 1b completed? The only requirement I would have not finished is math 1b, which I plan on completing there.</p>

<p>You would need to take the following in your first semester at Berkeley and do well enough in them in order to successfully declare the economics major.</p>

<ul>
<li>Math 1B or 16B</li>
<li>Statistics 20, 21, or 131A (other possible courses require more than Math 1A)</li>
<li>Economics 100B (the other options require more than Math 1A)</li>
</ul>

<p>If you intend to go on to a PhD program in economics, you need to take much more math; you may want to take Math 1B, 53, and 54 before transfer.</p>

<p>Is there priority for certain student and not others? What are my chances of actually getting those three classes?</p>

<p>Also, I actually do plan on obtaining my Phd in economics, but the problem is I am applying this year and am barely at trigonometry, and I don’t want to wait until 2014 to apply and start attending in 2015. <p>They should accept any courses that you take the summer before your first semester of enrollment.</p>
