Currently, I’m a BBA in economics that can graduate a semester early at the University of Iowa. I’m aware that there isn’t a lot of opportunities available for undergraduates in economics right out of college unless I attend graduate school. I’m not sure if I’m ready for graduate school and would like some better job prospects with my major. My school offers a business analytics degree that I could complete in eighteen semester hours requiring me to stay one more semester. I’m currently taking a business analytics class and was wondering if it would be worth the extended effort. Any advice appreciated.
I’d talk to people in the business analytics department and career placement offices and see if it helps with job placement.
Look at the courses in the bus analytics minor and start taking some more of them if you are interested. If these courses offer more employable skills (such as use of a particular software package or particular methods), you could highlight them on your resume even without the formal minor. Would declaring this minor now help with internships this summer?
