economics or public policy

What do you think are the advantages of either major? disadvantages? I'm thinking about going to law school, but in case I don't will a public policy degree ( got in...) be a marketable degree to help me get a decent job? what kind of jobs will a public policy degree exclude me from that an econ degree wouldn't? please, anyone with knowledge please extrapolate.

The new public policy program sounds like it will be solid. It's a very broad degree that's based on many different areas of social science. You'll be covering economics, political science, sociology, etc. all in one.

I don't think public policy, however, will open more doors than economics. At best, they are equal, but economics has one big advantage: quantitative learning. Public policy, while it uses some math and stats, does not take it to the level of econ.

Also note that econ majors get some of the highest LSAT scores.

Also, I know this isn't Ann Arbor, but take a look at the careers and graduate school paths of Econ majors at UPenn:
