Economics vs Business - Competitiveness on Acceptance

I’m curious if the chances on getting into UCONN are significantly different if a student applies as an Economics major versus a Business. My son has a 3.1 out of 4.0 UW GPA (mostly honors classes) at an out of state private high school with 1300 SAT. He has strong EA but not earth shattering. I’ve heard at schools like UMASS he would likely get in for Econ but not for Business. I’m curious if this would be true at UCONN also.

Any insight would be appreciated. thanks!

Admissions into the UConn Business School as an incoming Freshman is more competitive/harder to get admitted to compared to the Economics program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). Your son can apply to the Business School and if he is not admitted, he may be eligible for the ACES program (undeclared).
