How good would you rate the economics dept at UConn compared with UDelaware or UNH?

I would say that UConn is better. Of course, I know very little about two latter schools you mentioned.

This should properly answer your question, I think: [Economics Alum is World Bank Leader on Russia UConn Today](Economics Alum is World Bank Leader on Russia - UConn Today)

Good Find! I just emailed it to my Freshman S @ UConn, who’s looking at double major Poly Sci / Econ. So far, he loves everything about the school, especially the honors program… I usually keep up w/ UConn today, but I’ve slipped over the holidays; thanks philosopher!

My s got accepted to honors for 2010. Can you please share with me your student’s experience and why he likes UCONN honors so much? I have heard such great things, but it is always good to hear it from a recent student. Thank you.

So far he’s totally satisfied, both with UConn and the honors program. The fact that the freshman honors program has it’s own dorm and comes with percs for priority registration etc… has really enabled him to get the courses he wanted without hassle and to get involved with a group of dorm-mates who like to be academically challenged, share his interests and still want to have fun, but not go ‘animal house’. Location-wise, this year they are in Buckley hall which, although it and shipley seem to be isolated on the campus, actually are closest to a bunch of off-campus stores, pizza & wings restaurants, etc… and the under construction commercial plaza. Having it’s own dining hall is also a plus for winter mornings apparently! There are a number of special programs also going on that can be planned and hosted at Buckley for the Honors community as a result of it’s segregation into one dorm.

I’ll try to get my son to post on here to tell you more when I get a chance… he usually doesn’t like to post on CC…
