ECs as a freshman?

Alright, so I'm a rising freshman and I'm planning on doing tons of ECs. I'd like to major in the field of computer science/engineering.

What I'm considering:
Key Club
Computer Club
(Sorry the list is so short I haven't found any clubs.)

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Why?

Things to remember:

 1. Quality > quantity.
 2. Clubs are boring. (So only join them in you like them.) ECs don’t have to be clubs and they don’t have to take place in school.
 3. You probably already have some ECs you can build on. Do you have a job? A business (even a stupid one)? Volunteer? Take music lessons?

Consider doing things in your community, volunteer work always looks good!

Do fun stuff and try new clubs/activities.

Look on the chances thread, and you will see what a bunch of other people do with the major you want in high school (keep in mind that attempting all of it is suicide for most). At my school a lot of people who like engineering are in robotics. Maybe take AP cs, and then try to volunteer/get a job where you can apply those skills. And SciOly/Quizbowl is always fun.

Also, I agree with meander- try new things, don’t just focus on things that will look good for your proposed major… as you aren’t even a freshman yet, you might find yourself changing your mind.

I agree, you should join the robotics club. I don’t know if you’ll have room for sports unless your clubs don’t meet after school, but maybe try one. Just to try it out freshman year and you don’t have to sign up again if you dislike it. Try to find an internship or job relating to computers.
